Mariah Carey fires Jermaine Dupri as her manager; reportedly hires Kevin Liles

Mariah Carey and her longtime writing and producing partner Jermaine Dupri have ended their management deal.

The news was broken out by an article on Billboard.com, which also states that the superstar is now reportedly, though the rumours have not been confirmed yet, being managed by Kevin Liles. Mariah and Liles have indeed been working together  since June, on the Go N’Syde Butterfly beverage line the singer is endorsing.

In a statement to Billboard, Jermaine Dupri explained that they’ve parted ways peacefully stating:

“I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work, I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future.”

Mariah’s latest release, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, has been lauded by critics as a solid body of work but it hasn’t been received as positively by the public, selling only 103k copies since its May 27th release according to the same Billboard article. While that may suggest Carey wasn’t pleased with Dupri’s work as her manager, she has had a history of clearing the house rather frequently over the years. In the past year alone she’s undergone three management changes, most notably parting ways with Randy Jackson, another longtime collaborator, at the end of her American Idol stint as a judge.
