Mariah Carey announces Vegas residency: The #1’s Show

A gorgeous and radiant Mariah Carey had a big announcement to make today when she visited the Ellen Show. The iconic superstar revealed that she will headline her first ever residency at the Colosseum at Ceasar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

Rumours about Mariah replacing Céline Dion during her hiatus had started surfacing last week and when she was spotted leaving the Ceasar’s Palace last weekend, it was just a matter of confirmation. Mariah then was announced as a guest on the Ellen Show, where she broke the news and gifted the audience with tickets to her show as well as a hotel stay.

Mariah Carey’s residency will consist of 18 shows between May and July, centered around her 18 #1 Billboard Hot 100 hits. To celebrate the stint and this groundbreaking record, Mariah is also preparing a re-issue of the iconic #1’s album, originally released in 1998, which will now be comprehensive of all of her #1 hits as well as newly recorded material to be released at the end of 2015, according to the press release.

The residency comes after the 20 dates Mariah played during the Elusive Chanteuse Show Tour in Asia and Australia and the 6 sold out Christmas shows at Beacon Theater in NYC this past holiday season. Mariah is also scheduled to headline the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival on January 30th.
