Listen: T.I. drops a socially conscious “New National Anthem”

In light of the recent police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson and with the protests still going on, T.I. shares a new track focusing on this horrible matter.

Assisted on the track by Skylar Grey , T.I. opens by saying “I know radio prolly ain’t gonna play this….but chopper going off in the hood man like Afghanistan or the Gaza strip somewhere man/Yeah, we hear it so much we probably numb to it by now/After all, it’s the American way right?”

Much like J. Cole’s “Be Free” (which we’ve previously reviewed,) “New National Anthem” proposes another reflection on the topics of injustice, violence and racism. Three topics which are, unfortunately, still at the forefront of any social debate.
