Kesha sues Dr. Luke for alleged sexual abuse

Pop singer Kesha is suing music producer Dr. Luke for having sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused her for the past 10 years.

Dr. Luke signed Kesha to his imprint in 2005, when she was 18 years old and according to the text of the lawsuit, he has repeatedly forced her to do drugs and made numerous sexual advances to her. The singer goes on to say that the abuse she’s suffered from the man has led to an eating disorder.

The singer’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, stated:

“This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke.”

She is also asking the judge to be released from her contract with the producer’s label, Kemosabe.

The pair has collaborated in a number of hit singles (including the #1 songs “TiK Tok” and “We R Who We R”) and he has served as the executive producer of Kesha’s albums.

Dr. Luke is allegedly also responding with a lawsuit of his own, taking the singer to court for defamation and extortion.
