On this post-VMAs issue, no one really benefits from the show other than The Chainsmokers, who sold 208,000 downloads and remain at #1 for a 3rd week with “Closer” after performing it at the ceremony. Their previous hit “Don’t Let Me Down,” also returns to the top 5.

“Make Me” by Britney Spears jumps 58-17, following the release of her album, a performance on the VMAs and a well timed discount. The song had debuted at the same position upon its release.

Billboard 200
01. (–) Barbra Streisand – Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway
02. (–) Florida Georgia Line – Dig Your Roots
03. (–) Britney Spears – Glory
04. (02) Drake – VIEWS

09. (08) Rihanna – ANTI

Barbra Streisand extends her record for most #1 albums for a female by earning her 11th in the US. Streisand also stretches her record for the longest span between #1 album at 51 years old since the first one and she’s the only act to have had albums on top of the charts in 6 different decades, starting from the 1960s.

Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway debuts with 148,000 copies sold, ahead of Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots (#2 with 126,000) and Britney Spears’ Glory (#3 with 88,000). Spears bests the #4 peak of her last release Britney Jean, but fails to match the 107,000 copies that album debuted with during the holiday season of 2013.

Beyoncé seems to have been the one benefiting the most from her performance and multiple wins at the MTV VMAs. Lemonade is back in the top 10 at #7 with 26,000 copies sold this week.
