On the charts: Week ending 07/05

This week’s top 10 songs and albums on the Billboard charts (07/18 issue).

The Billboard charts dated July 28 are going to be the last ones tracking sales data on a Monday-Sunday cycle. To reflect the change of the Global Release Day from Mondays to Fridays starting TODAY (July 10), Soundscan will be tracking sales on a Friday-Thursady cycle, starting with the chart that will be published on July 14.
The changes will affect all charts with sales as one of their component.

“Cheerleader” advances to #2 and threatens to end Wiz Khalifa’s impressive reign atop the Hot 100. The upbeat track also reaches #1 on Digital Songs this week.

With 215,000 copies sold Meek Mill debuts at #1 with his 2nd album. Dreams Worth More Than Money is his first #1 album and it posts Mill’s best sales week. Miguel starts at #2 with his 3rd release, Wildheart, besting the #3 debut of Kaleidoscope Dream. That album howvere, sold 71,000 copies in its first week out, supported by the R&B smash “Adorn.”

New at #10 is also the Magic Men XXL Soundtrack. The score to the sequel to the sexy movie bests the #167 peak of the first soundtrack.

Taylor Swift’s 1989 tops the 5 million mark in sales this week. It is the fastest rise (36 weeks) to this threshold since Usher’s Confessions sold 5 million copies in August 2004 in its 19th week on the chart.

New on the top 50: “679” by Fetty Wap at #47 and Charlie Wilson’s “My Favorite Part of You” at #50.
