The release of its parent album allows Beyoncé’s “Formation” to finally debut on the Hot 100 at #10. The song, which premiered in February, was never previously available for purchase, nor did the views of its much discussed music video from YouTube count for chart purposes as it remains unlisted. “Formation” debuts at #3 on Digital Songs with 174,000 downloads in 4 days. It’s Beyoncé’s 16th top 10 hit in the US and her first since “Drunk In Love” peaked at #2 in 2014.

Beyoncé and Prince shook up the chart this week with a significant number of their songs occupying the top 40. All of the tracks from Bey’s new album LEMONADE debuted on the Hot 100 thanks to their sales and streaming data from TIDAL. She was close to having two top 10 debuts as “Sorry,” the selected single from the album, started at #11 with over 118,000 downloads.

With 12 songs on the Hot 100, Beyoncé also bests a record for females previously held by Taylor Swift who had placed 11.
