Kelly Clarkson’s emotional performance of “Piece By Piece” on American Idol earned her a place in the top 10 this week. Following the performance, the track shot to #1 on iTunes in its original form. Later released also as an acoustic track (piano and vocals) the way she performed it on the show, the song sold 210,000 downloads in total and landed at #8 on the Hot 100. The new version appears on a re-issue of her latest album, Piece By Piece, featuring remixes of all the tracks.

“7 Years” by Lukas Graham is ready to conquer the US after capturing Europe and Australia. The Danish band took their song to #1 in the UK and is starting to make noise overseas, making an appearence in the top 10 this week. With support from CHR/Top 40 and Adult Top 40 radio and growing streaming and digital sales figures (the song is now #1 on iTunes), it seems poised to top the Hot 100 soon.

The 1975 score their first #1 album with their sophomore release. The lengthy-titled record sold 98,000 copies in its first week.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis return to the Billboard 200 with their new album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, which debuts at #4 with 51,000 in sales. Their first album The Heist debuted at #2 with 78,000 copies sold and went on to sell 1.5 million, producing multiple hits.

With a 114 positions jump Kelly Clarkson returns to the top 10. Piece By Piece had debuted at #1 upon its release and is now back at #6 with 19,000 copies sold, a spike caused by her performance on Idol last week (+676%).
